RadioShake Privacy Policy

Effective: June 2026

Overview

RadioShake is a free internet radio player for Android. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data RadioShake collects and how it is used.

Data We Collect

RadioShake does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, phone number or location.

Specifically:

Crash Reporting and Product Analytics

Release builds of the Android app include two Google Firebase SDKs:

These SDKs generate a per-installation identifier and send device and app metadata (model, OS version, app version, coarse region) to Google. Under UK and EU data protection law that identifier counts as personal data, which is why it is disclosed here. There is no cross-app tracking and no advertising identifier is used. Uninstalling the app resets the identifier. Google's handling of this data is covered by the Firebase privacy documentation.

Data Stored on Your Device

RadioShake stores the following data locally on your device only:

This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.

Third-Party Services

RadioShake connects to the following external services to function:

About This Website

radioshake.media (this site) uses self-hosted Umami analytics to count anonymous aggregate pageviews. No cookies are set, no personal data is collected, no cross-site tracking. Analytics data is stored on our own server.

This website's Umami analytics is separate from the RadioShake Android app's telemetry described above under "Crash Reporting and Product Analytics." The app is not analytics-free — it uses Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics as disclosed there — but it carries no advertising SDK and no cross-app tracking.

Regional Availability

To respect music-licensing rules in certain territories, the curated station directory shown in RadioShake varies by region. In the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (the EU member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the curated directory is limited to stations from your own country; international browsing, the country picker and the radio map are hidden. Everywhere else, the full global directory is available.

Your region is determined on your device from your mobile network or SIM country code, falling back to your device's language/region setting. RadioShake does not use GPS and has no servers of its own. When the directory is region-limited, your country code is included as a filter in the request to radio-browser.info (the same request that, like any web request, exposes your IP address to that service). Your region is never stored, profiled, or used for advertising or tracking, and this setting only affects which curated stations are listed — you can always add and play your own custom stream URLs regardless of region.

Permissions

Children's Privacy

RadioShake does not knowingly collect data from children, and does not collect the personal data categories listed above — name, email, phone number, or location — from anyone, of any age. As disclosed under "Crash Reporting and Product Analytics" above, release builds do send anonymous crash reports and a small, fixed set of product-signal events via Firebase; that telemetry is not targeted at, or aware of, a user's age.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
